We're pleased to announce that our total joint replacement specialist, Arthur Mark, M.D., is now using the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing System as an alternative to total hip replacement for qualified candidates. Preferred over total hip replacement by younger, active patients, hip resurfacing:

• Is recommended for active adults who are under 60 years old
• Is FDA approved since May 2006, but in use around the world since
• Has been performed more than 60,000 times in the U.S. to date
• Is more stable and longer lasting that total hip replacement
• Has larger head size to offer more stability in the joint, decreasing the chance of dislocation after surgery
• Offers a cobalt chrome metal surface on the ball and socket to significantly reduce joint wear
• Conserves substantially more bone than a total hip replacement
• Provides greater potential to participate in more strenuous activities after the procedure

To learn more about this procedure, or to refer a patient to be evaluated for this procedure, please call 732.660.6200.
